She married Edward Mills on May 18, 1941. They moved to Willits in 1948 when Eddie was offered a job at Johnson's Mercantile and settled down to raise their two daughters.
Elvis was always involved in her community. She was a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls group leader, assisted any way she could with her daughter's school, Job's Daughters and church group activities, and became an active member of Soroptimist International of Willits.
During these years Eddie and Elvis also owned and operated Al's Liquor Shop, highlighted by the best candy selection in town, allowing them to make many friends young and old alike.
Retirement didn't slow her down. She traveled, helped care for two of her young grandchildren, chaired the Community Blood Drive, volunteered at Willits Community Services as treasurer, assisting with the Food Bank and administering the Reach Program, and sat on the election board. In addition, she worked part-time, helping manage Pine Ridge Health for several years.
Elvis was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Marnye Sylvander of Willits and Melinda (John) Hays of Yuba City; four grandchildren: Ron (Lee) Sylvander, Lombard, Illinois; Pam Lucero, Naperville, Illinois; Brian Kepple of Chico, and Alicia Casey of Willits; and by six great-grandchildren.
