He was born March 10, 1931 in Henderson to the late Sherman Perry and Dovie Mitchell Perry. Survivors include his wife, Jean Legens Perry; a daughter, Rita Ross of McKenzie; a son, Sherman Perry of Gleason; two sisters, JoAnn Chapel of Greenfield and Vonelle Lewis of Memphis.
