David was residing at Saltfleet Township, when Orders of Council gave him land 9 February 1820. (UCLP David Whitesell; Saltfleet, 1818, W 12/192, vol. 528)

In 1828 at Malahide 4th Co., age 36; Capt. Abraham Backhouse's, 2nd Regiment Middlesex Miltia; at Malahide Twp.; Men of Upper Canada; Militia Nominal Rolls, 1828-1829; Elliott and Walker, from National Archives; p. 147.

In the 1842 for Malahide Township, Elgin County, David Whitesell is living on Concession 5, Lot 10 of with 140 acres.

David was living at Malahide Township in 1845 when he gave a statement on behalf of his younger brother Charles to receive land. Charles was at the time a resident of Howard Township in Kent county.

In 1851, David Whitesell is probably living at Concession 5, Malahide Township, Elgin County. This portion of he Malahide census is missing.

In the 1851 census for Orford Township, Kent County, (p. 25) gives Amanda Whitesell, 15, non family member, at school with family of Jacob Street, 57, born US, NCM, farmer, in frame house, with wife, Juliann (Whitesell) Street, 58, born US, on 3rd. Conc., lot 72, with children, Elizabeth, 33, Joseph, 17, and Elizabeth Eberlie, 11., near a Charles and Rebecca Street. At page 29 is Betsey Whitesell, 13. At page 15, is Eliza Whitsell, 24, a Quaker.

In the 1861 at Malahide Township (Div. 3, p. 13), David Whitesell is 68, a widower, living in Living with him is his daughter-in-law Lucy, 46, a widow, and her children, "Livina", 18, David, 13, and Arthur, 11. David is a "Labourer", and they are English Methodists.

A David Whitsell (sic) was the original grantee of 200 acres at South Dorchester, Concession 1, Lot 20, November 4, 1835.

Their daughter Margaret (Whitesell) Millard is buried next to them.
