Matthew Bruce Olsen passed away on January 25, 2013 in Louisville, Tennessee at the age of 57. He was born January 2, 1956 in Hayward, California. He met his wife Leora in Red Bluff, California. They married on November 9th, 1985 at the LDS Oakland, California Temple. Matthew was a loyal and devoted son, husband, and father and will be greatly missed. Matthew became blind and disabled as a young adult. He accepted his blindness without complaint. As a youth he loved being a Boy Scout and attending church activities. He wanted to be a firefighter and was able to achieve that goal for two years as a seasonal firefighter before he became disabled. His brother Mark Edward Olsen predeceased him, as well as four grandchildren whom perished in a house fire. Matthew is survived by his parents Bruce and Gerry Olsen, Red Bluff, California, his son David Olsen, Sevierville, Tennessee, step-daughter Amanda (Roston) Debuty, Louisville, Tennessee, his sisters Susan Young, Sitka, Alaska, Ruth (Tom) Calbreath, Red Bluff, California, brother Bruce (Carol) Olsen Jr., Red Bluff, California, and several grandchildren. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will conduct graveside services at the Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee on January 30, 2013 at 3:00 pm.
