Actor. Born in Milwaukie, Oregon, he was a popular television and film performer, plus an original member of the Actors Studio New York City. After several stage appearances on Broadway, he made his big screen debut in “Swingtime Johnny” (1943), followed by “Strange Confession” (1944). His other film credits included “The Girl Who Dared” (1944), "G.I. Honeymoon" (1945), "Behind City Lights" (1945), “Fear” (1946) and “Strange Conquest” (1946). For TV, he was regular on the series “Robert Montgomery Presents”, “The Web”, “Suspense”, “Armstrong Circle Theatre” and “Kraft Theatre”. He died age 76 in Southfield, Massachusetts and was also married to actress Beatrice Straight.
