Obituary: TREMONT -- Edward L. Rickett, 85, of 130 E. Ripley St. died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at his home.
Born Aug. 20, 1911, in Lilly to Elmer and Josephine Schnelbacher Rickett, he married Jessamine Hardy in June 1933. He later married Opal Booten on Aug. 7, 1948. She died July 13, 1994. One sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Arland "Rick" of Pekin; one brother, Russell of Forest City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In 1944, he and his brother Russell founded Rickett Bros., now Rickett Grain Co., in Forest City. He was president of the company at his death. He also worked for Cadillac Motor Division and Caterpillar Inc.
He was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church and Pekin Moose Lodge.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davis Mortuary, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Bergan Cemetery, rural Mackinaw.
Memorials may be made to his church.
