Son of Durham and Rebecca Leonard Hartman. Note: the informant on the death certificate, George's son Clarence, identified George's mother as Rebecca but census information consistently shows first name of Elizabeth. It is assumed Leonard is correct.

George first married Annie Polley (or Pauley) on April 13, 1879 in Clermont County, Ohio. George and Annie had two known children: Nellie and Clarence.

George later married Rhoda Emily West Herrin on March 23, 1893 in Clinton County, Ohio. There are no known children from this union.
