THE SPRINGFIELD SUN, Thursday, December 27, 1934, pages 1 and 8. BISHOP.
Daniel Bishop, age 54 years, was fatally injured at 9 o'clock Saturday morning when hit by an automobile driven by R. T. Edrington of Louisville, on Lebanon Road, about one mile over the Washington County line. Bishop was taken to Elizabeth Hospital in Lebanon by Johnny Pile of this city, who arrived upon the scene shortly after the accident. It was at first believed Bishop's injuries were not fatal but an X-ray revealed a large skull fracture and concussion of the brain. His right leg was also broken. His death occurred at 10:45, one hour and forty-five minutes after the accident. The fatal accident according to information reaching The Sun, was unavoidable. Bishop was enroute to Lebanon on a light truck driven by Sid Milburn and Milburn stopped the truck at a gate leading to the home of Al Benedict, on the East side of Lebanon Road, to permit Mr. Bishop to leave a plow line on Benedict's gate. In his hurry Mr. Bishop failed to note the fact the Edrington car was approaching, ran around the front of the Milburn truck and into the path of the car as it was passing the truck. Bishop's body was carried a distance of several feet before the driver could stop the car. Mr. Edrington, accompanied by his wife, was enroute to Campbellsville and was considerably upset because of the tragedy. He and his wife accompanied Bishop to the hospital. Following his death, Mr. Bishop's body was brought to Edelen's Funeral Home here to await burial. Funeral services were held at St. Rose at 9 o'clock Monday morning with burial in St. Rose Cemetery. The son of the late Dr. J. W. Bishop and Annie (Bean) Bishop, deceased was born and raised in the Hardin's Creek section of this county. He was the only child of the couple and was never married. For several years he had been engaged in farm work in this county and on the day of his death was enroute to Lebanon to close a deal for a crop in Marion County for the ensuing year. He had been assisting Will Sallee in farm work on the J. Y. Mayes place near this city (continued from page 1 on page 8) some time. Mr. Bishop was an honorable and industrious man and had many friends here who regret his tragic end.

NOTE: His burial entry on line 8, page 16 of St. Rose Sacramental Register IV, Rev. Father C. A. Hannon, O.P. says he was a white convert who was killed December 22, 1934 and was buried at St. Rose Cemetery on December 24, 1934. (from Gerald & Martha Thompson research)
