Katie Thelma May, 88, went to be with the Lord May 31, 2006 at her home in San Antonio. Her funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday, June 5 at the Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.

She was born in Mississippi, became a registered nurse and practiced public health nursing, graduated from Baylor and attended postgraduate studies at the University of Minnesota. She was an active member of Coker United Methodist Church, John Wesley Class and she mentored many women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bailey Peyton and Maude Medley Carr; brothers, Buford Vernon, Bailey Peyton, and Charles Hubert; sisters, Mary and Gladys; her husband, Merle Herbert May and grandson, Andrew Scott May.

She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, David Roger and Kathy, Gregory Robert and Kay, Howard Carter and Wendy, Thomas Peyton and Sue Ann May; grandchildren, Angela and Tom Morgan, Heather, Ryan, Dustin, Kayla, Sarah, Kendra, Peter and Renee, Anna and Will Stephens, Lindsay and Katherine May; great granddaughter, Isabelle Morgan, and a large, loving extended family.
