Christian Herr Martin was the son of David Martin and Barbara Herr Martin. Born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, he obtained land in Rapho and Mount Joy Townships during the mid-18th century. He and many of his children remained in the area, establishing homes and businesses throughout the northwestern portion of Lancaster County. Christian was buried in the family graveyard, which was located on the Mount Joy farm. Some reports indicate that the remains and gravestones from that farm were transferred to the Eberly Cemetery in Mount Joy, but there is no clear evidence of this yet.
