Harley came to live with us in her senior years. Her human parents passed away in 2008 and we became her caretakers. She only had to move just down the hill from her former home and of course we were "family" so the change was not difficult. She had a younger pup to play with and teach all that she knew – Betsy. She continued to guard the whole place as always. This past year we added another addition to our family – a puppy that was abandoned on the door step. And then there were three. The puppy "Maggie" knew right off that she would be a guard dog-in-training....soon to take over the reins. Maggie took her job seriously and learned everything from Harley. So Harley began to slow down and let Maggie take over the job of guarding the place. She was still able to go on the morning walks with us most of the time. But this last week she began to realize that her time on earth was coming to an end. She is at rest now. We will miss her.
