Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer (Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois), Monday, June 16, 1968:
   Funeral services for Ewald C. Goebel, 74, of Prairietown will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown.
   Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Jacoby-Wise Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Burial will be in Prairietown Cemetery.
   Born Jan. 23, 1894, in Prairietown, Mr. Goebel lived there as a farmer. He was married to the former Katherine Pape Jan. 14, 1917. She survives.
   Mr. Goebel was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he had served as a member of the school board and of the trustees.
   Besides his widow, Mrs. Katherine Goebel, he is survived by a daughter Cornelia Wittulski, of St. Louis; two sons, Norman and Wilbur Goebel, of Prairietown; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Weishaupt and Mrs. William Kuethe, of Prairietown; Mrs. Arthur Stiegemeyer and Mrs. Harry Eilerts, of St. Louis and three brothers, Edward Goebel, of Prairietown, and Henry and Louis Goebel of St. Louis
   Three other sisters and one other brother preceded him in death.
