Herbert and Edna owned and operated Edna's Caf? in Riverdale, Iowa, for 31 years, retiring in 1993.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Edna; his daughter, Shirlene (Jack) Hoots, and his son, Herbert Janeil (Kathie) Atwood, all of Riverdale; his grandchildren, Kevin (Jaime) Atwood of Moline, Illinois, Aaron (Shelly) Hoots of Bettendorf and Kimberlee (Brad) Robertson of LeClaire, Iowa; and 10 great-grandchildren.

His brothers, Orville, LeeRoy and Jack "Tex" Atwood and his sisters, Florence and Edith, preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank the many people who cared for him during the past few years: Dr. Packy Huettman and Staff, Dr. Nidal Harb and Staff, Dr. Gary Pribble and Staff, Dr. Andrew Edwards and Staff, Genesis Infusion Center Staff, Genesis VNA, Riverview Manor, Iowa Hospice and Ken Riedesel.
