John A. Caudill was the son of John Dixon and Mary Ann (Green) Caudill. He never married.

John A. Caudill

John A. Caudill, son of John Dixon and Mary Ann Green Caudill was born April 16, 1869 and died June 26th, 1946, age 77 years, 2 months and 10 days. He is survived by three brothers, B. E. Caudill and S. H. Caudill of Whitesburg, and S. E. Caudill of Decatur, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. James P. Lewis of Georgetown, Ky.; Miss Polly Caudill of Whitesburg, Ky., and Mrs. Robert Banks of Dade City, Fla. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He was reared on Sandlick Creek and remained at his home until the age of 22, at that time he left home and after traveling for a time settled at Burden, Kan., and remained there for 20 years, returning to his old home in 1911, after three years and his old home he left again, settled on a small farm near McAlester, Okla., where he lived as a bachelor until short time before his death when he became seriously ill, and was taken to his brother's home at Decatur, Ala, where he died 10 days later. At his request his body was sent to Whitesburg, Ky., and kept at the old home place until funeral arrangements could be made.

His body is to be laid to rest in the Sandlick Cemetery with his loved ones who have preceded him in death.

He professed a hope in Christ and said he was not afraid to go, and left the assurance that he had made peace with God.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 29th, 1946 at 10 A. M. at the Sandlick Regular Baptist Church with Elders Archie C. Craft and T. R. Collier, officiating. Burial in the Caudill Lot of the Sandlick Cemetery. Craft Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
