Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Saturday, March 30, 1963:
  A requiem mass for Joseph W. Sedlacek will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Elbow, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.
  Mr. Sedlacek, 69, of 415 East Schwarz St., a resident of the Edwardsville area all his life, died Thursday at 9:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital, Alton, where he had been a patient six hours. A farmer 26 years in Hamel Township, he retired 10 years ago.
  Born Oct. 14, 1893 in Edwardsville Township, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Smola Sedlacek. He was married to Agnes Kesl on Nov. 3, 1920 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
  Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert J. of Edwardsville Route 4 and William W., stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; three daughters, Mrs. Roy (Edna) Wolfe and Mrs. Vernon (Mary Ann) Burian, both of Edwardsville and Mrs. Eileen Taylor of Wood river; one brother and three sisters, Frank of Alhambra, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Svoboda of Glen Carbon, Mrs. Ivan (Mayme) Kramer of Wood River and Mrs. Erwin (Frances) Wolf of this city. Eleven grandchildren also survive. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
  Mr. Sedlacek was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW Post 1299 of Edwardsville and was a Veteran of World War I serving in Europe.
  Friends may call at the Weber funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.
  The rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
