Mrs. Felix Cassidy died very suddenly last Thursday afternoon. She had been ill but a few hours when death came. She had been feeling as well as usual and had been to church on Thursday morning. Death was caused by a stroke.
The deceased was born in Benton Feb. 13, 1851, her parents being Mr. and Mrs. John McMahon. She had three brothers Michael of Yakama, Wash., Philip of LaCrosse, John of St. Paul and two sisters, Mrs. Jno. McCrea of Benton and Ellen of Denver. One brother John and one sister Ellen preceded her to the grave.
She was married to Felix Cassidy in 1878 at St. Louis where they lived for two years. The remainder of her life was spent in Benton. Her husband preceded her to the grave many years. As a widow she put up a noble battle for herself and family. She was highly respected by the people of this community and her death was mourned by everyone.
She leaves five children to mourn her death: John, Felix, Mrs. Thos. Baxter, Mrs. P. Baxter and Mrs. A.L. Murray.
The funeral was held last Saturday morning from St. Patrick's church with Rev. Bergen presiding.
