Arthur Van Waardhuizen age 98 of Knoxville, Iowa passed away on January 23, 2013, at the Westridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Knoxville.

Arthur Van Waardhuizen was born on June 1, 1914, to William and Anna Henrietta(Vande Kieft)Van Waardhuizen, near Otley, IA. He received his early education at the Liberty Corner School near Otley and was a granduate of the Pella High School. In 1934 Arthur was united in marriage to Catherine Vos. Arthur farmed in the Otley area until the early 1940's at which time Arthur and Catherine moved to Santa Monica, California where Art worked for Douglas Aircraft. After a time in California, Art and Catherine returned to Iowa where Arthur farmed and also trucked coal and grain. He also sold cars, farm equipment and worked as a mechanic for Vos Farm Equipment. Arthur also served as a Marion County Supervisor. Arthur always liked flying and owned several different aircraft over the years.

After several years of marriage Arthur and Catherine went their separate ways. In 1966 Arthur married Margarete Craft. Art liked the western states and moved to the Phoenix area for several years and was the owner of a mobile home sales lot. As he matured in life, Arthur moved back to Iowa and became a resident of Park Lane Assisted Living and later Park Lane Memory Care located in Knoxville, Iowa.

Arthur is survived by his five children and their spouses: Jerry Van Waardhuizen of Sun City, Arizona, Clarence(Janetta)Van Waardhuizen of Tavares, Florida, Arvin(Jennie)Van Waardhuizen of Knoxville, Iowa, David Van Waardhuizen of Phoenix, Arizona, and Norma(Tim)Blaylock of Phoenix, Arizona. Arthur is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Anna; his wife Catherine and Harry and Albert Van Waardhuizen.

No memorial has been established.
Services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Winfield Funeral Home, located at Knoxville, IA. A private internment will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery of Pella, IA.
