Funeral services for Vernon Henderson of Georgetown, will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Georgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in the Lincecum Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers of Jena. Visitation will begin at 5pm Friday, January 25, 2013 at Georgetown Baptist Church.
Mr. Henderson, 75, of Georgetown was born October 9, 1937 in Rochelle, La. to Fred L. and Irene Atwell Henderson and passed from this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his residence in Georgetown.
He owned Papa Bears Barbque on Toledo Bend, worked for Kelly Springfield Tire in Tyler,Texas; deputy for Grant Parish Sheriff's Dept; service tech on pumps for SSM Oil Co; Belden Wire & Cable and a truck driver. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by two daughters, Kecia Nugent and husband Samuel of Bentley and Tyra Rabalais of Pineville; step-children, Bob Henderson,Dana Malcolm and Craig Henderson all of Georgetown; sister, Juanita Norris of Deville; brother, Harold Henderson of Tyler, Texas ; grandchildren, Samantha Nugent, Natalie and Jill Rabalais; step-grandchildren, Trey Bradford, Victoria Malcolm and Kyle Henderson and great-grandson, Drake Owen Futrell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, DeWana Sue Henderson, parents, step-grandson, Dustin Henderson, sister, Vicky Nugent and brothers, Leon and Bobby Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harley Arledge, Jason Arledge, Jacob Mills, Trey Bradford, Mark Malcolm and Eric Nugent.
