John Scott, age 1, is listed in his widowed Mother's household on the 1870 Desoto Co, MS Census.

John F. Scott, minor, is listed in several Desoto County Court actions relating to the estates of his late grandmother, Mary Cheairs Scott; and his late father, John Franklin Scott; and his late grandfather, Nathaniel Scott. He is listed along with his three surviving siblings in these Court recordings on 31 Oct 1870 and again on 10 Dec. 1872.

His Mother was later appointed as Administrator of her late husband's estate. In Desoto Co Court Minutes for Feb 1874, relating to the minor children of the late John F. Scott, it lists siblings, Stella, Wirt, and Obid Scott, minors. It states that "John F. Scott, another of said minors named in the Bill and brother of said minors and whose interest is inherited by them is DEAD".

Therefore, John died after 10 Dec. 1872 and before Feb 1874 and would have been buried in his Mother's family cemetery where his father had previously been buried.

There could be a small marker for John's grave, hidden in the low ground cover and wild roses. Since John's existence was unknown when this abandoned cemetery was visited a few years back, no search was conducted for his marker.
