Bridget was born on October 17, 1922 in Utica, NY, daughter of Cornelius and Bridget McNamara Furlong. She graduated from Holland Patent School in 1940. Bridget proudly worked as a bookkeeper at many local businesses, including Robert H. Mayer in Utica. She spent the majority of her career working for Steffen Publishing in Holland Patent. Bridget enjoyed working at Steffen's and continued on there long after her "retirement", working well into her 80's.
Bridget is survived by her daughter Darla Williams Hardiman, of Holland Patent, her grandson and his wife Timothy and Melissa Hardiman, of Clinton, and her great grandson Fionn Ray Hardiman. She is also survived by her brother Richard Furlong, of New Hartford, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Furlong, of Holland Patent, She leaves behind many adored nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Bridget spent the majority of her life with her large and loving family in Holland Patent, NY, which she called home, and where the name "Sis" was given to her by her siblings at a very young age. Her family was important to her, and she was blessed to be surrounded by so many loving nieces and nephews, including her Godchildren Thomas Furlong and his wife Nancy, and Debra Walker Boss and her husband Earl.
Bridget was predeceased by her parents, as well as her sister Theresa Walker and her husband Elwood, her brother Thomas Furlong, her sister Josephine, and sister's in law Neva Furlong and Irene Furlong. Bridget was an avid reader, and a supporter of the Holland Patent Library. She loved to travel, and took many trips and weekend getaways to Old Forge with her sister Theresa. She was proud of her Irish Heritage and was proud to have visited Ireland in 2000 to see where her parents were born.
Interment in Holland Patent Cemetery will take place later in the spring.
