Victoria T. (Zinker) Rice, 87, of South Windsor, widow of Joseph T. Rice, died Monday (February 25, 2002) at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in East Windsor, daughter of the late Martin and Rose (Sampeck) Zinker, she lived in South Windsor 37 years.

She worked with her parents on the family tobacco farm and continued tobacco farming with her late husband on the property where her home now stands. She had also been employed by the former King's Department Store, West Hartford until retiring. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

She leaves four sons and their wives, Stanley J. and Sally Rice of Vernon, Edward M. and Joan Rice of Bristol, Thomas J. and Jane Rice and Patrick F. and Betty J. Rice, all of South Windsor; a daughter and her husband, Marjorie and Paul LeBlanc of East Hartford; a sister, Frances Hubert of Stafford Springs; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather Thurs, Feb. 28, 9:15 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock.
