Opal Jean Fisher, 89 of Kokomo passed away at 3:30 AM, August 2, 2012 at Fairmont Rehabilitation Center, Kokomo. She had been in failing health the past six months. Jean was born January 5, 1923 in West Middleton to Cecil V. DeLon and Gladys E. (Wilson). She married the love of her life, Robert R. Fisher on April 27, 1941 in Kokomo. Bob who was the service manager at Wiese Oldsmobile died June 18, 1983. At the age of 60 Jean learned to drive a car and got her first driver’s license. She had major adventures in her black Cutlass car “Liz”. Jean also was well known as the Biscuit Lady at the KFC restaurant in the Markland Mall complex in the 1980s. She lovingly made the biscuits every morning and enjoyed working with the young people at the restaurant. There was an article in the Kokomo Tribune that touted her accomplishment as an older worker.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her three sons; Robert E. (Bud) and wife Christine Fisher of Warsaw, Bill D. Fisher of Kokomo and Kenny Joe and wife Kathy Fisher of Clarkdale, Arizona. She is survived by two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters; Betty Mayes of Kokomo and Marjorie Arnett of North Port, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Burial New London Cemetery.
