James Edward Shepperd, 79, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, at Crawford Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

James was born in Thornton, Texas, to the late Thad and Ollie Lee (Buttrill) Shepperd. He attended Waco Technical High. James married Lynette Russell on July 3, 1952. He was a self-employed home builder and even after retirement continued to work for Kunkel Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, bass fishing, and annual trips to the Rocky Mountains. In recent years he enjoyed watching the bald eagles at Lake Waco.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Buttrill, Earl, Ollie Kate, Margaret, Marvin Bob, Elton, and Milton; and a granddaughter, Magan Self.

Survivors include his wife, Lynette Shepperd; son, Michael Steve Shepperd and wife, Debby; daughters, Brenda Self and husband, Lonnie, and Jamie Perry and husband, Danny; brother, Elmer Shepperd; grandchildren, Shelton Shepperd, Sterling Shepperd, Skyler Shepperd, Jason Kunkel, Angela Garrett, Ashley Self, Zack Self, Rikki Moore, and Justin Perry; great-grandchildren, Madison Garrett, Kaidy (Bug) Kunkel, Corbyn Walton and Pipper Shepperd; and special friends, Don Skains and Mike Hughes.
