James Clark Bogert was born in New York in 1841 and married Amelia Willis Decker in 1865. Their 4 children (John, Charles, Emma and Ella) were born in Walden, Montgomery, Orange County, New York and the family moved to North Dakota in the late 1870s, being found in Grand Forks, Dakota Territory in the 1880 US Census.
In about 1903, James and Amelia's eldest son, John Edward, moved with his wife, Ida Caroline (nee Baird) and children, Arnold, Amelia, Victor and Lavina, to Enderby, BC, Canada. James and Amelia followed in early 1911. James died in May 1912 and Amelia died in 1924. It is believed that Amelia is buried in the Enderby Cliffside Cemetery.
