Edgar William Eickhoff, son of William and Rose (Grote) Eickhoff, was born on January 24, 1921 in Zion Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa. He attended school through the eleventh grade. In 1921, Edgar was baptized in the Zion Lutheran Church and later confirmed in 1935.

On April 6, 1941, Edgar was united in marriage to Betty Hansen in St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with four children: Bill, Becky, Steve and Tom.

Edgar entered into the U.S. Army on November 6, 1942 to proudly serve his country during World War II. During his service, Edgar earned many awards: American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, 2- Bronze battle stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Service Stripes and the Overseas Bar. He was active in the campaigns of Rhineland Central Europe as well.

Over the course of his life, Edgar worked as a general contractor. He remained active in the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Edgar enjoyed fishing, sightseeing, watching baseball and woodworking.

Edgar is survived by his wife Betty of Newell; sons: Bill Eickhoff and wife Karen of Orange City and Tom Eickhoff and wife Donna of Newell; daughter-in-law Karen Eickhoff of Spencer; son-in-law Loren Zoet of Adel; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; as well as other extended family and friends.

Preceding Edgar in death were his parents William and Rose Eickhoff; daughter Becky Zoet; son Steve Eickhoff; brother Willis Eickhoff; sister Evelyn Fellows, granddaughter Jodie Olson; and grandson Craig Eickhoff.
