Oscar Hugh Shoaf, 84, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Shoaf was born on April 22, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late William P. Shoaf and Lillie Ridings Shoaf. He retired from Bennett Lewallen/Eli Witt. Mr. Shoaf was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Yokley Shoaf. Oscar will be remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband and a kind gentle man. Oscar is survived by two nieces, Brenda Peddycord (Greg) and Sharon Cameron (Poncho); a great niece, Elizabeth "Sissy" Crump (Chris) and Colt, a great nephew, Michael Cameron; one nephew, Roy Stewart (Carolyn); and one sister, Mabel Cameron A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to his special friends at Steven's Restaurant-Your friendship and laughter was something he looked forward to every day-Family would also like to thank Grace Baptist Church family and friends-who wrapped their arms around him during a difficult time- Neighbors on Wilmar Circle and to the caring staff at Kate B.
