Bryant O. Morris

Bryant Owen Morris 92, of Lebanon Junction, KY, formerly of Sulphur, KY, peacefully passed away on January 23, 2013 at University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY. He was born on December 13, 1920 in Sulphur to the late William Bryant Owen and Eliza Reva Dawkins Morris.
Bryant served his country in the United States Navy on a Destroyer Escort during World War II. After his service, Bryant came back to Sulphur. He worked at Belknap Hardware in Louisville for a number of years, then attended beauty college. After graduation, he and one of the other students, Mildred Mousa, were married. Over the years, he not only had his own shop specializing in men's hairstyling, but also instructed at several barber schools. He was a faithful member of Sulphur Baptist Church. He served the Sulphur community as an organist for 20 years, playing for first the Baptist Church then the Methodist Church. Bryant was known for his knowledge of area history. He often was asked to recount Henry County history and to help people with genealogy. He loved history, especially the World War II era, and he had a passion for gardening. In later years he loved to feed and watch the song birds, and the fresh eggs provided by his chickens and duck brought him excitement every day.
Bryant leaves to mourn his passing: his beloved daughter, Marsha Morris and Michael Taylor of Lebanon Junction, KY; one sister, Norma Begley of Winchester, KY; nieces and nephews, Jan Brady, Ron Begley, Don Bailey, and Mandy Worthington; and MowMow, the little black kitty who stole his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Price Worthington; and one nephew, Gary Worthington.
A Going Home Celebration was held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Sulphur Baptist Church with Reverend Drew Oakley and Reverend Andy Murry officiating the service.
Cremation was chosen and burial will be in the Sulphur Cemetery, Sulphur, KY, at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to one of the churches in the Sulphur community: Sulphur Baptist, Sulphur Christian, or Sulphur Methodist, or to the Walnut Street Baptist Church-TV Ministry.
