Anna was born to John A. Sutter, Jr., the founder and planner of Sacramento, and his second wife, Nicolasa Vade Solis in Mexico, one of nine issues of this union.

Anna Sutter Young helped bring her father's remains back to California 67 years after his death, and had him buried at historic Sacramento City Cemetery where a large upright memorial greets visitors at the entrance to the cemetery. Anna died in 1970 and is buried with her father.

Please note: There is incorrect information on her headstone. Per Anna's passport application, filled out by her she was born 18 Sep 1887 not 1888. Her CADI and SSDI records confirm this information. Also according to her CADI she died in San Mateo County not San Francisco and her SSDI record states her last residence was Daly City, in San Mateo County.
