Funeral service for Lloyd Francis Byrd was February 18, 2012 at Wilson Mortuary Chapel, Salem, with Pastor Mickey Davis officiating. Masonic service was provided by the Salem Masonic Lodge #225 AF & AM.

Music was provided by Rosalie Innes, Shirley Lauf, Betty Blevins, Leona Gibbs and William Byrd.

Interment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors by American Legion Post #99 and the United States Air Force Funeral Honors.

Pallbearers were Norman Steelman Jr., Robert Hess, Gary Blevins, Laverne Gibbs, John Lauf and Jim Innes. Honorary pallbearers were Gilbert and Irvin Halbrook.

Mr. Byrd was born October 12, 1929 in Dent County to Francis "Frank" and Elsie (White) Byrd. He married Barbara Ann Darko November 28, 1952. They were the parents of three children. Later he married Rosalee Halbrook in 1997. Mr. Byrd died February 16, 2012 in Salem at the age of 82 years.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalee Byrd, Salem; children, Diana Steelman and husband, Norman, Salem; William Byrd, St. Louis; sisters, Opal Woolsey, Springfield; Leona Gibbs and husband, Laverne, Springfield; Rosalie Innes and husband, Jim, St. Louis; Melba Blenker and husband, Ray, St. Louis; Shirley Lauf and husband, John, Springfield; and Betty Blevins and husband, Gary, Forsyth; grandchildren, Cindy Hess and husband, Robert, Hannibal; Norman Steelman Jr. and wife, Amber, Mexico; and Elizabeth Byrd, Germantown, Md.; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Ashlyn and Brooke Hess; and Norman Steelman III; step-children, Georgia Gatewood, St. Louis; Linda McMenomy, Salem; and Marilyn Kempa and husband, Brad, Imperial; nine step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Barbara; son, Glenn Byrd; sisters, Hazel Lough, Flossie Byrd; brother, Rossie Byrd; step son, George Baker; and step daughter, Melva Baker.

Mr. Byrd served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge #225 AF & AM, American Legion Post #99 and Grace Community Church.
