Rodney Walters, 73, of Monmouth died Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013, at his home. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. Friends may call on Thursday, January 24, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming where a Masonic Service will be held at 8 PM. Rodney was born on April 27, 1939, in Garber, Iowa to Roy and Delores (Noack) Walters. He moved to Wyoming in first grade and he graduated from Wyoming High School, Class of '57. He joined the Army in 1957. On March 23, 1985 He married Mary (Hansen) Walters. Rodney worked at Clinton Engines for two years then for Herb Cox Implement in Wyoming. In 1969 he was a Co-owner of Hunwardsen and Walters Farm Equipment in Clarence, and in 1983 he worked at Municipal Street Implement and starting in 1985 he farmed. Rodney was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church where he served on the council for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Zealous #435 of Oxford Junction. He is survived by his wife Mary of Monmouth; two children; Jeff (Donna) Walters of Lisbon; Debra (Thomas) Vaccaro of Williamsburg, VA; four step-children; Debra (Joe) Hronik of Davenport; Jeff Dirks of Center Junction; Steven (Cindy) Dirks of Wyoming; Sharon (Mike) Holmes of Delmar; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters; Kay (Jose) Ofmen of Austin,TX; Brenda (Dave) Lee of Cedar Falls; Julie (Paul) Null of Muscatine; Joni (Keith) Somerville of Wyoming; and three brothers; Roger (Karen) Walters of Chicago,IL; Steve Walters of Round Rock,TX; Chuck (Janice) Burns of Broken Arrow, OK. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-mother, and one step-son. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of Jackson County and Wyoming Zion American Lutheran Church
