Jewell L. James, 86, of Parsons died at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Elmhaven East nursing home in Parsons. She had been in failing health.
She was born on Nov. 29, 1926, at Neodesha to Henry and Julia (Cooper) Ellis. She grew up at Neodesha and attended Neodesha schools. She later moved to Parsons, where she lived most of her life except for a few years when she lived in Arizona.
She was a homemaker.
She married Orville James on Aug. 17, 1946, at Iola. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1991.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Friends may call the funeral home at their convenience.
