Lola Peterson Adams
Lola Peterson Adams, 93, of Orem passed away October 17, 2007. Lola was born "July 25", 1914 (very appropriate for a modern-day pioneer) in Ephraim, Utah a daughter of Oscar C. And Marion Olsen Peterson.
In high school, she developed her love for creative writing, drama and reading. She won numerous awards in all three areas. Lola has been an Orem resident for over 75 years. She married Ronald B. Adams on July 22, 1932, they were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple August 27, 1988.
Lola has served as the President of the Utah County Women's Legislative Council, the Orem Boosters, the Orem Women's Club, the Spencer Elementary PTA, the Lincoln High School PTA, and the Orem PTA Council. She was a producer of the Miss Orem Scholarship Pageant and has served as the chairperson of SCERA Recreation Fund Drive and the Red Cross Fund Drive.
The home that Lola, Ron and family lived in was one of the first homes built on the Provo Bench. She always exemplified the philosophy that "work is good."
Lola has served in the LDS Church for over 54 years, teaching in Primary, Sunday School, Mutual, and Relief Society. She has written and produced ward "Road Shows", has taught the Literature Lesson in Relief Society for more than 25 years.
Lola loved gardening, cooking for family and friends, wearing beautiful hats and dressing to a "T", creative writing, loved words and teaching. Whatever Ron planted she weeded, picked, watered and marketed.
Survivors include her daughters: Loy Vee (Nard) Johnson; Patricia Vail (Frank) Harris; Vicki Roneen (Dell) Young; Darla Kay (Alan) Smith, 23 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ron and her daughter Dixie Sanford.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sharon 5th Ward Chapel, 545 South 800 East in Orem.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and also Monday one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel.
