John J. Angerer, Sr, fifty-five, of 1543 W. 40th, a native of Erie, died unexpectedly Wednesday at Hamot Hospital.Son of Anthony Theodore Angerer and Mathilda "Maude" Anderson. John was baptized at Sacred Heart Church on 17 Nov 1907 and godparents were: Alphonsus John Angerer & Barbara Angerer. John first married Ruby B Ham in Virginia.
Mr. Angerer was a contractor for the Hampy Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Bettina "Betty" Grzesiak Angerer; daughter, Mrs. Earl {Annie Betty Lee} Davis, of Ohio, and adopted daughter Mrs. Rosemary V. Lewis of Erie; two sons John J Angerer, Jr., and Robert Daniel Angerer, of Erie; his mother Mathilda Angerer of Conneaut, Ohio, and seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Orlo {Mary} Penniman, Mrs. Ruben {Eve} Whitney, of Florida, and Mrs. Raymond {Rita} Andrews, of Girard; and six brothers, George Angerer, of Washington, Frank and David Angerer of Erie, Charles Angerer, Of Chicago, Illinois, and Robert Angerer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Theodore of Girard, Pennsylvania.
Mass was at St George Church and burial at Calvary Cemetery.
