Killed in action in the first days battle on the McPhearson Farm and along the Chambersburg Pike, Gettysburg.

From "Osceola in the War of Rebellion" Page 36 : Curtis Gleason, son of Nelson and Esther (Taylor) Gleason, was born May 30, 1835, in Chatham, Tioga county, Pa. He was killed by a bursting shell in an old railroad cut north of Gettysburg, on the first day of the battle, and the ground was soon after occupied by the enemy. When our army re-occupied the ground his body could not be recognized. It is therefore buried among the " Unknown."

[There are numerous "Unknown" graves at Gettysburg. If you go to Gettysburg ( )and type in Unknown either in the first or last name, various "Unknown" gravesites will pull up. I especially like FAG #4016813 & #39900600, that could represent Pvt Curtis Gleason.]
