Helen Saturday Jacobs Stark passed peacefully from this world on January 19, 2013 at Hope Hospice, Ft. Myers , Fl after a long illness. Pine Grove Baptist Church , Collins, GA will hold services on January 26: visitation from noon-2pm; memorial service from 2pm-2:20pm, followed by a brief graveside service at Cedar Creek Cemetery .

Helen was born on May 25, 1929 in Collins, GA to Willis and Mamie Saturday, local farmers; they preceded her in death. Helen was raised in Tattnall County , where she attended Pine Grove Baptist Church and was an active member of the congregation.

Helen earned her BA in teacher education from Georgia Teachers College, Statesboro, GA where she met her husband, Paul H. Jacobs (of Nahunta, Georgia) who worked for the Florida State Department of Education and, eventually, as a professor at the University of Illinois. They were married until his death in 1985.

Helen taught elementary school, teaching in Georgia , Florida , and Illinois . She taught for 19 years in Champaign , Illinois and retired in 1986. Then, Helen moved to Sun City Center , Florida and eventually met her second husband, George W. Stark, a retired federal government employee. They were married for 20 years.

Helen was mother to Philip Jacobs of Wilmington , NC and Maria Cahill of Cape Coral , FL. She was grandmother to Thomas and Anna Jacobs and Matthew, Christine, and David Cahill. She had three sisters: Willie Mae Collins, Peggy Stouffer, and Nelle Holcombe.

Helen loved sewing, cross-stitch, and gardening. As a retiree, Helen volunteered for Hospice and the Mary and Martha House (for battered and homeless women and children). Helen was a caring parent and grandparent, loyal friend, and devoted disciple of Christ.
