Donna was born April 17, 1928 in Rigby, Idaho, to David Alfred Bates and Myrtle Alice Bates. She attended school at Rigby High School.
On September 15, 1956, she married Lawrence O. Volmer in Ammon, Idaho. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on September 6, 1960. They had one son.
Donna worked as a cook for Hart's Bakery and Bonneville School District #93.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Young Women, Relief Society, Primary, and as a Scout Leader.
Donna enjoyed playing with her grandkids, as well as sewing, cooking, and embroidery.
Donna is survived by her son, David (Sandy) Volmer, of Idaho Falls; and grandchildren: Christopher Volmer of Boise, Branden Volmer, of Ammon, Sam Volmer, of Ammon, and Aimee Volmer, of Pocatello.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday January 18, 2013, at the Ammon LDS 27th Ward building (7118 Ledgerock Dr), with Bishop Jacob Dustin, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road), and from 10:00 to 10:45 at the church prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
