Retired car salesman enjoyed trap shooting
Fred T. Schleppy, 83, of Berwick passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2013, at Berwick Retirement Village, following a short illness.
Born in Hazleton on Feb. 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Earl B. and Helen D. (Diehl) Schleppy. He spent the past 14 years in Berwick after moving from Conyngham, where he had resided for most of his life.
Fred served with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1950-1956.
He was a retired car salesman for Eidam Cadillac in Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre and Kingston, and also Wright Motors, Hazleton.
He was a member of Nescopeck Rod and Gun Club, where he enjoyed trap and target shooting.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Susanne Bradbury, who passed away in 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Tier and her husband Anthony, Conyngham; a son, William, Leesport; four grandchildren: Nicholas Tier and his wife Kerry; Matthew Tier and his fiancée Diana Salava, and William and Sarah Schleppy.
A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Conyngham Union Cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey Butala, pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel, Conyngham, will officiate the services.
