Accident Kills Pedro Fuentes
Pedro Fuentes, 18, 15830 "K" St., Mojave, died early last Saturday morning from injuries suffered in a one car accident last Friday, Oct. 9th.
The accident happened at 11:15 p.m. on the Cameron Canyon Rd., six-tenths of a mile south of the Willow Springs Tehachapi Rd. The California Highway Patrol estimated that the 1965 Ford Mustang driven by Mitchell Paul Kelland, 19, Star Route
2, Cameron Canyon Rd., Mojave was traveling at.an excessive speed of approximately 75 miles an hour when it went out of control on a curve.
Fuentes was the only one of the four occupants thrown from the car. He was taken to the Tehachapi hospital by
Morris Ambulance Service. The driver and Mark Odean Remme, 19, Route 1, Platte ,South Dakota, were treated and released from the Tehachapi hospital. The fourth passenger, Edward Eugene Vassar, 21, 220 Valley Boulevard, Tehachapi, was not injured.
The California Highway Patrol measured 270 feet of skid marks before the vehicle left the roadway and another 216
feet of marks when the car went into a gully, rolling down and partially back up the embankment.

Pedro H. Fuentes, 18, 15830 K St., Mojave, was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Oct. 10, 1970, and passed away in a Tehachapi hospital.
He was born in Mexico, Nov. 11th, 1951, moving to California as a baby. He had resided in Mojave since 1962.
His survivors include his parents, Mr. .and Mrs. Pedro P. Fuentes of Mojave; four brothers, Ignacio of Ridgecrest; Hector, Javier, John, all of Mojave; and two sisters, Elvia and Irma of Mojave.
The Rosary was said at Stickel's Mortuary on Monday, Oct. 12th. The funeral Mass was said by Fr. James Maloney at St. Francis Catholic Church on Tues., Oct. 3. Interment was in Mojave Cemetery.
