Anna Ruth (Allen) Chaffin
COOKEVILLE — Funeral services for Anna Ruth (Allen) Chaffin, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Double Springs Church of Christ, Cookeville. Burial will be in Cooke Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the church, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday.

Mrs. Chaffin was born July 10, 1931, in Jackson County to the late Richmond Allen and Vallie Allen.

She was a beloved Christian lady in Putnam County, well-known to many as a generous friend and a devoted Christian. She was everyone's "Granny" to all who knew her and loved to give much more than to receive. She was a homemaker for most all of her life, devoted to the needs of her husband and children and grandchildren. In her last years, she found a special joy in working each Wednesday with her "quilting buddies" at Double Springs Church of Christ making quilts by hand and donating them to people in sick or in need. She also loved being a Bible Bowl Pal for the past eight years to her special friend, Carley Sparks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Chaffin (Junior) of almost 55 years. One of her fondest memories was celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2000, with family and friends.

She is also survived by a sister, Aletha Jane Fields of Cookeville; a brother, John William Allen of Baxter; two sisters-in-law, Nelda and husband Steve Cooper of Chattanooga and Lydia Chaffin Martin of Cookeville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Double Springs Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies of Double Springs Church of Christ quilting mission.

Memorials may be made to Double Springs Church of Christ as a dedication to continuing the work of the Quilting Mission or to Willow Avenue Church of Christ "City of Children" Mexico Mission Trip fund to which she was so proud of her grandson, Chayce, for participating.

Funeral services will be officiated by Bros. Mike Webb and Randy Bybee.

Congregational singing will be led by Bro. Mike Birdwell.

Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville is in charge of arrangements (931) 526-2151.
