Jeanette Manners was born December 30, 1899 to Austin John and Mary Elder Wright Manners in Casselton, North Dakota. Jeannette grew up in Casselton and attended school there.
She attended Jamestown College. She married Clarence Edward Haney on June 3, 1925. They had one daughter, Helen Jeanette Haney and one son John who died in infancy. After living in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for a short time, they moved back to the Casselton area and ran a gas station near the highway. Following that they moved to a farm one mile southwest of Leonard in southern Cass County, ND where they raised hereford cattle. They often wintered in Arizona due to a healthier climate for Clarence's asthma. Jeanette worked in the Leonard Post office for a number of years. She was a member of the Hollyhock Homemaker's Club and the Bethel Moravian Church. Clarence and Jeanette had one daughter: Helen Jeanette (Kistler). Family was very important to Jeanette and she enjoyed her five grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cross stitch. Jeanette moved into Leonard after Clarence's death. Jeanette succumbed to cancer February 29, 1972. She is loved and missed by many.
