Jesse Moody was born around 1790 in Georgia. He was a Brother of Isaac, Solomon, Jeremiah and Thomas Moody. Jesse Moody married Mary Francis Wood. He probably did not marry until he came to Georgia, as Frances gives her birth place as Georgia.
The 1820-1850 Census of Appling County Georgia shows Jesse Moody and Family. He lived briefly in Wayne County Georgia, where he served as Justice of Inferior Court from 1824 - 1825. Jesse held the same office in Appling County Georgia from 1829 - 1833 and again from 1837 - 1841. On the 1850 Appling County Census, Jesse Moody gives his Occupation as a Minister of the Gospel. In the 1860 census he is living with son Shadrach in Wayne County Georgia. He is 70 years old.
Jesse Moody served in the Indian War in the 74th Battalion Georgia Militia. November 12, 1813, certified by Elias Fort, Major Commanding the 74th Batt. Georgia Militia.
