He was born May 1, 1918 at Harman, a son of the late Amos and Laura Hedrick Pennington.
He is survived by two sons, John K. Pennington, Millersville, Md.; Howard N. Pennington, Harmons, Md.; one daughter, Jane Cain, Harmons, Md.; one brother, Thomas Pennington, Moundsville; three half brothers, Rodney, Randy and James Pennington, all of Broadway, Va.; three sisters, Eva Riggleman, Romney; Mona Havison, Indiana; Gettie Pratt, Franklin; three half sisters, Mary Bore, Janice and Maxine Pennington, all of Broadway, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Pennington worked during the 1940's for the Maryland Shipbuilding and Drydock Co.
Later he was a truck driver for Carter's Industrial Laundry and the Delivery Co., both in Baltimore.
He retired in January after 30 years as a paper route carrier for the Sun-Papers.
He was a member of Annapolis Moose Lodge No. 861 and was interested in gardening and making videotapes of his family.
His wife of 33 years, the former Mattie Chew, died in 1973.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis, Friday from 5-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Harman Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating.
Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery.
