Stanley L. Krebs was the son of the Rev. Dr. Walter and Isabella LeFevre Krebs. He studied music and composition at the Boston Conservatory of Music in 1883 and became an accomplished violinist and composer. He graduated with honors from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA in 1886. He received the Doctor of Psychology degree from the Chicago School of Psychology in 1889 and a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Lancaster Seminary in 1890. He married Anna Frick Frantz on September 17, 1890 in a ceremony conducted by his father. Stanley became the pastor of newly organized St. Andrew's Reformed [now United Church of Christ] in Reading, PA where he served until 1901. During his pastorate the church received 947 new members. He moved to First Reformed Church, Greensburg, PA in 1901 where he served until 1906. During his sixteen years in the ministry Stanley was composing music, writing and lecturing on psychological topics including the Chautauqua circuit. Stanley left the ministry in 1906 when he accepted a position as associate editor of the Science Press in Chicago. In 1908 he was employed as president of the [John] Wanamaker University of Commerce, Philadelphia, PA. Stanley developed the curriculum, wrote textbooks and lectured at the institution. Later, as he became more in demand as a speaker, Krebs struck out on his own as a lecturer with 25 different topics. He could hold an audience spell bound for an hour or more. The family moved to New York City. In late 1920 Stanley and Anna divorced. He married a Chautauqua actress, Mary Tomlinson, aka Marjorie Main on December 2, 1921. They travel extensively on the lecture circuit where she aided him in his work. In 1923 he was erased from the rolls of the Reformed Church and 1929 he was ordained an Episcopal priest. He lectured on one of the New York seminaries in New Testament Doctrine and Greek. Stanley's biography appeared in Who's Who in America from 1928 to 1935. He died of cancer at St. Luke's Hospital, NYC and was buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown, Pennsylvania, beside his infant daughter. In 1953 his second wife had his body moved to Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood, California.
