Darlington- Kathryn (Kay) Side, age 79, of Darlington, Wisconsin died on Monday, February 27, 1995 at her home. The former Kathryn Elizabeth James was born in Iowa County, Dodgeville, Wisconsin on December 12, 1915, the daughter of Neal and Flora (Bartle) James. She was married to John W. Side on June 1, 1946 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington.
She graduated from Dodgeville High School and from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Madison in 1936. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Darlington for many years. She was a volunteer for many organizations particularly the American Red Cross since World War II, and the Lafayette County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington and of its Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her husband, John W. Side; two daughters, Mary Kay (Larry) Hirsbrunner of Farmer City, Illinois, and Dee Dee (Tim) Helgeson of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; a son, John J. (Tammy) Side of Fort Wayne, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Jim and Jason Hirsbrunner, Sarah and Andy Helgeson, Lesley, Lindsey and Ashley Primeau, and Chad, Kara & Kyle Side; a sister, Ruth (Lyle) Penhallegon of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; two brothers, Spencer James of Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and Donald (Agnes) James, of Pardeeville, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and a special neice Jean Ann McMahan of Dodgeville, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and three brothers.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 1, 1995 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington, with Father Tom Coyle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 9 pm on Tuesday, February 28, 1995 at the Steil Camacho Funeral Home, Darlington where a rosary service will be at 8 pm. Memorials are preferred to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Lafayette County Memorial Hospital.
