Nancy JoAnne Sweet, 71, of Wenona died at 2 a.m. Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Nancy was born June 7, 1933, in Peoria, a daughter of August and Mildred Larken Langhoff. They preceded her in death.

Nancy was the beloved wife and best friend of Wilbur B. Sweet for 51 years. They were joined in marriage Oct. 10, 1953, in Joliet. Wilbur survives.

Nancy was a devoted and loving mother of two daughters, Janis (Terry) Hovey and Sandra (Shannon) Arnold and a nurturing grandmother to four grandchildren

She is also survived by one sister, Wanita Murphy and one brother, August (Pia) Langhoff.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Nancy was a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in her early years. In 1983 she was employed by Lida Home in Minonk. Nancy later helped friends and neighbors with their nursing needs while facing their battles with cancer.

The job she loved the most was that of homemaking. She supported and assisted her husband with his truck-driving career. Nancy loved her family. She has touched many hearts on her journey through life, and has left many beautiful memories.
