She was born on August 16, 1925 in Kingsport, to Clarence and Fernie Barrett. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marie enjoyed game shows, baseball and beating her grandchildren at cards. She loved the color red and cherished the friendships made at Island Road Evangelical Methodist Church where she and Oscar were longtime members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bishop; parents, Clarence and Fernie Barrett; daughter, Pamela Bishop Lane; grandson, Michael Fields; and brother, John Daniel Barrett.
Marie is survived by daughters, Janice Fields and husband, Dale, and Patricia Davis and husband, Larry; son-in-law, Terry Lane; grandchildren, Jeffery Fields and wife, Ronda, Kristi Vinson, Shauni McCoy, Jody Holder, Miles Lane and wife, Renée, Mark Lane and wife, Samantha, Amber Davis Baxter and husband, Bradley, Amanda Davis Edwards and husband, Gil, Rachael Davis Bartosch and husband, Davin, and Lindsey Davis; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Selma Barrett and Pauline Puckett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bradley Reider officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
