Seattle Mayor. He served as Mayor of Seattle, Washington from March 1906 to March 1908. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and a law degree from the University of Michigan, before arriving in Seattle in 1888. Prior to becoming mayor, he served as King County deputy prosecutor. In 1897 he was elected as a judge to the King County Superior Court where in remained until 1901. Following his term as mayor, he was defeated for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in 1910, before finishing his civil service career as a member of the Seattle City Council from 1916 to 1930.
