Terry Lewis Byrd, 76 of Clarksville, TN and Chandler, AZ passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 in Costa Rica while on a Panama Canal Cruise. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover, TN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 22,2013 from 4-7:00 pm and on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 10-11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home. He was born April 17, 1936 in Dover, TN son of the late James Linnis Byrd and Chrystelia Lewis Byrd Armstrong. Mr. Byrd was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Austin Peay State University, received an EDS degree from Eastern Michigan University, was principal of Flat Rock High School for twenty years and was a business owner in Flat Rock, MI and Clarksville, TN. He was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church, a life member of The Elks, and a member of Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals. Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great friend to many. He especially enjoyed his winter home in Arizona, boating on Lake Barkley in the summer and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a loyal fan of Vanderbilt University football. His laughter and humor will be missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Janell Crain Byrd, a brother, Bob Byrd and brother in law, Copas Wynn. Survivors include his wife, Ellie Certo Byrd of Clarksville, TN and Chandler, AZ; daughter, Tracy Byrd Wade, her husband, William , and their children, Leah Elizabeth and Emily Anne , of Nashville, TN, daughter, Kelly Byrd Mullins, her husband, Bryan , and their children, Betsy Claire and Eliza Louise , of Lexington, KY; sisters, Snooky Wynn, Chattanooga, TN and Peggy Guinn and her husband, Dotson, of Clarksville, TN; sister in law, Ann Wimpy Byrd , of Hopkinsville, KY; step son , David Certo, his wife, Megan and their children, Peter, Lucy, and Kate, of Indianapolis, IN, step daughter, Jennifer Hill, her husband, Todd and their children, Abigail, Ryan and Emily, of Hagerstown, IN and step son, Michael Certo, his wife, Lindsey and their children, Max and Alex, of Queen Creek, AZ; Pallbearers are Mike Cattell, Martin Bruner, Tommy Price, Ricky Rager, John Byrd, Bill Lyle, Arvel Atkins, and Barney Schultz. Honorary pallbearers are Dotson Guinn, Ben Stone, Dr. Robert "Bitsy" Lee and Jackie Wynn.
