Services for Mrs. Jess V. Hefner, 73, who lived in California, were held at 11th Street Baptist Church in Shamrock, Thursday, November 23, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joe M. Goforth, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church in Hale Center, officiating.
Mrs. Hefner, whose family has lived in the Shamrock area for a number of years, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, November 19, in a Merced County, California hospital.
Interment was in Shamrock Cemetery with Richerson Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Tommy Adkins, Shamrock; Gary Adkins, Erick, Oklahoma; Donald Westbrook, Shamrock; Michael Rogers, Plainview; Melvin Green, Kelton; Oliver Trimble of Pampa.
Mrs. Hefner's husband, Jesse V. Hefner, died in Shamrock August 27, 1969, while attending a family reunion with his wife.
She was born May 20, 1899 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Hefner, the former Lucy Trimble, was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Nathan Wood of Merced, California; four sisters: Mrs. C.O. Hefner of Shamrock, Mrs. Jewel Anderson of Lubbock, Mrs. Lillian Traylor of Roswell, New Mexico, and Mrs. Alma Cox of Azle; one brother, George, of Floydada; one grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.
