KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- Marilyn A. Spencer, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away June 8, 2017, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. She was a longtime resident of Davenport. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, 838 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport. Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Marilyn was born July 10, 1924, to Nellie M. Lange and Walter J. Lange in Scott County, Iowa. She graduated from DHS, Davenport, and started working at Rock Island Arsenal. She married Paul E. Spencer on December 9, 1944, in Davenport. They were married for 63 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Davenport. She loved travelling and camping with Paul. She was a 39-year member of Holiday Ramblers Chapter 86 and served in many offices. She also was a former member of Leisure Eagles Camping Group. Marilyn retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. Marilyn loved gardening and spending time with family.
Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Sandy (Ray) Freeman, three grandchildren, Rachel Freeman of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Bryan Freeman of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tony Freeman (Katie) of Kansas City, Missouri and two great-grandchildren, Adam and Ava Dunn, Lake St. Louis, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Steven Paul Spencer, and a sister, Loretta Paper.
